Louisiana is seeing a major rise in veterans accessing VA benefits—tripling the national growth rate and signaling stronger outreach and support across the state.
According to a recent report from the Louisiana Radio Network, Louisiana veterans are utilizing VA benefits at a rapidly increasing rate. From fiscal 2023 to 2024, veteran participation in key U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs programs grew by 6%, compared to a 2% national average.
More than 82,000 veterans across the state now receive over $2 billion in VA compensation, reflecting both improved access and increased awareness.
Notable areas of growth include:
Education benefits (G.I. Bill and Title 35): Up 9%
Vocational rehabilitation and employment benefits: Up 25%
The Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs attributes this progress to proactive outreach efforts, including more than 50 events held statewide to connect veterans with the services they’ve earned.
Louisiana’s momentum places it as a national leader in ensuring veterans receive support for education, employment, healthcare, and financial stability.
